Happy alternative Christmas at Billy’s
From the roadside diner that dares to give you breakfast all day, we’re once again ringing the changes on Christmas feasting.
Who says the menu has to be all about roast turkey and mince pies? And who says it has to be eaten at lunch or dinner time? Not us. Here at Billy’s, we’ve put together a cracker of a Christmas menu that can be enjoyed anytime of the day. And you won’t have to choose what you want to eat before you get here – or experience that tummy-sinking feeling on the day when you wish you had chosen something different.
Bring a friend – or two, three, four or more – and book a table for any time of the day. And choose either from our normal menu or our festive specials when you get here.
Our regulars will be delighted to know our famous Santa’s Squeaky is back this year. This Boxing Day favourite has been turned into a pre-Christmas treat by Billy, packed with chestnuts, pancetta, sprouts and topped with two poached eggs.
If you’re after a hearty winter dish, then a rich venison casserole or big bowl of smoked haddock and leek chowder will ensure an afternoon snooze is essential. We also have plenty for our vegan and vegetarian customers. Have a bit of Christmas party fun by daring your meat-eating friend not to love our wild and field mushrooms, cooked in vegan cream and served on sourdough with spinach and a drizzle of white truffle oil.
For the diehards, we do have turkey, but it comes in the shape of Billy’s Christmas breakfast. A mighty plate of turkey and cranberry sausage, turkey bacon, poached eggs, mushrooms and a slice of Santa’s Squeaky. There’s also a home-made turkey burger dripping with melted smoked applewood or blue cheese and topped with streaky bacon and cranberry relish.
Make room for pud
No matter how full you feel, it’s a Christmas tradition to make room for pudding. A large helping of spicy crumble and custard or Christmassy cheesecake will definitely have you undoing a notch on your belt.
So, grab your Santa hat, bring your friends or family, and celebrate the countdown to Christmas the Billy’s way.
